Sudbury Accent: Wakami Lake Provincial Park a memorable expedition

Article content I decided to begin the 2020 camping season with a trip to Wakami Lake Provincial Park. I found the park while scouring a map in 2019 and was drawn to its location and its remoteness. When I found out they offered a few backcountry sites, I was sold. I set out on July 1, eager for the drive and excited to spend Canada Day camping in the northern backcountry. Wakami Lake Provincial Park is about three hours from Greater Sudbury, down the Sultan Industrial Road to Highway 667. It lies between Lake Biscotasi and Highway 129 (itself a very pretty drive), about 68 km from Chapleau. I was excited for wildlife sightings I thought for sure I would see a moose or at least a fox on the Sultan road but alas, the only animals I spotted were the dead bugs splattered across my windshield.
