Health Ministry: 11 new clusters for 341 total, five end

The Health director-general said five clusters had also been declared ended on Saturday (Jan 23). The five clusters are the Jalan Rusa, Tower, Cassia Diamond, Bukit Punai and Estate Maju Clusters. Currently the total number of active clusters nationwide is 341, with 84 of them recording more positive cases today, he said in a statement on Saturday. He said of the 11 new clusters, eight were connected to workplaces while the four others were community, religious and detention centre clusters. In Johor, the Jalan Canggih, Persiaran Tanjung and Jalan Timah Dua clusters were identified while in Sabah, the Kilang Setapak and Kampung Bombalai Clusters were identified.

So far, 457 individuals have been tested in this cluster. On the other hand, the Lebuh Puteri construction site cluster in Puchong, Selangor saw 19 new cases today. Some 200 people have been tested in this cluster.

Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said there were 1,297 recoveries, bringing the total number of those discharged to 74,030. In a statement, Noor Hisham said with the 1,220 cases the total number of infections in the country to date  is now 89,133. ADVERTISEMENT Meanwhile, the three deaths bring the toll to 432. Selangor recorded the highest number of infections with 368 cases today, followed by Kuala Lumpur (297) and Sabah (184). Noor Hisham said 247 of the 368 cases in Selangor were from existing clusters and discovered through close contact tracing.
