Charges have been dropped for two men involved in a fight that injured a western iowa principal. Mills county prosecutors dropped Assault Charges against 19 yearold denvnv cook and 21yearold colton mcdaniel. Police say they were involved in a fight outside the home of richard hutchinson, the African American principal at glenwood high school. Police say a racial slur led to an attack on hutchinson and his stepson, hurl beechum. They say beechum got away, came back with a gun, and shot mcdaniel in the leg. Beechum, a former Iowa State University basketball player, is still charged in the case. He faces one count of intimidation with a dangerous weapon. His trial iset to begin next week. Mills county prosecutors say they dropped charges on the other two men because they were not responsible for starting the fight.
