Gold Coast debuting Malcolm Rosas ensured that every club has now blooded new talent in 2021.
Rosas debuted alongside four others in Round 9: Ronin O’Connor (Adelaide), Tom Wilson (Collingwood), Kieren Briggs (GWS) and Hugo Ralphsmith (Richmond).
However, they were familiar names that made the top five this week, including Melbourne’s only debutant this year, who continues to dominate the rankings.

With Round 9 just getting underway, it’s time to take another look at where things stand after eight rounds.
As I’ve said before, we use 23 sources of voting and evaluations of AFL players each week: several teams of the week, Brownlow-style voting, best-on-grounds, fantasy scoring, statistical leaders and AFLCA voting.

There s some massive games to look forward to in Round 9.
The weekend starts with an intriguing encounter between the Saints and Cats, but all eyes will be on Saturday night when Port Adelaide takes on the Western Bulldogs.
While at the same time, an undermanned Richmond hosts GWS at Marvel Stadium.
North Melbourne will be eyeing their first win of the season when they play 17th-placed Hawthorn in Launceston.

I’ve decided that it’s too risky to make predictions only about the margin of victory for a particular team, possibly the most veiled of all outcomes to forecast.
So in the interest of increasing my odds of success for each game, I will also be presenting ‘safe predictions’ for the games as well.
Mind you, the forecasts we’ve been making have been fairly safe already. With seven more correct last weekend we’ve now picked 47 winners out of 72 for the year, and the ELO-Following Football rating system is a more impressive 51 of 72 on its own after I made some rather unsafe overrides of the system early in the season.
