The Colorado Brewers Guild (CBG), a nonprofit trade organization for independent craft breweries in the State of Craft Beer, is announcing member breweries that are participating in Firkin February.
What and When: It’s Firkin February! All month long Colorado craft breweries will be releasing their firkins to the public. A firkin is a specific size of a cask, a ¼ of a barrel that often looks like a mini keg. Breweries are able to put their creativity in this vessel infusing beer with Phillipine coconut, Sour Patch Kids, Ancho Chiles and mango, and more. $20 per firkin will be donated to the Colorado Brewers Guild.
Station 26, Strange Craft, Joyride, Epic, Jagged Mountain, 4 Noses, Wibby, Broken Compass, Horse & Dragon and Elevation have already announced firkin tappings and dates, and many more are expected to follow.
The Guild, a not-for-profit organization that advocates for Colorado craft breweries, had a rough 2020 after it had to cancel all of its signature festivals and events and lay off two of its three staff members and 2021 could be just as bad depending on the trajectory of the pandemic, says executive director Shawnee Adelson.

List of Colorado’s most dangerous trails released Friday
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) A Louisiana-based satellite tracking and communications company has released a list of the most dangerous trails in Colorado.
The list is based on the number of rescues conducted and emergency GPS signals near those trails.
According to the list, among the most dangerous are the Crestone Traverse, Jagged Mountain, Longs Peak and Maroon Bells.
The release, from SPOT LLC, doesn t include any trails in the Pikes Peak or in southeastern Colorado. The company did not respond to a request from KRDO NewsChannel 13 for more information.
Shane Leva, general manager of Mountain Chalet, a hiking outfitter in downtown Colorado Springs, said he agrees with the selection of the four trails on the list.
