Cruz will work directly with students in her role, according to a college spokeswoman, and will remain in the post through December 2021.

GAZETTE FILE PHOTO By JACQUELYN VOGHEL HADLEY Cooley Dickinson Health Care officials signaled last week that community rollout of a COVID-19 vaccine is likely to begin in early to mid-February and last for six months. Cooley Dickinson Hospital has administered around 1,100 first doses of the vaccine in the first phase of the vaccination rollout, with 380 people having also received the second of the two doses, reported Dr. Estevan Garcia, chief medical officer at Cooley Dickinson Health Care. The first phase includes health care providers who work directly with patients, long-term care facilties and health care workers in non-COVID-19 facing care.

Published: 1/18/2021 5:19:00 PM EASTHAMPTON As residents of the Lathrop Retirement Communities approached the common area Monday, they were met with a long-awaited message.  “Vaccine Clinic Day!” a sign outside of the building said. “Hope is here!” Over the course of eight hours on Monday, pharmacists from Walgreens administered the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine to nearly all residents and staff members at the retirement community, which has locations in Easthampton and Northampton. Most residents and staff members eagerly welcomed the vaccine. Beverly Bowman, who lives at Lathrop’s Northampton location, had been “anxiously awaiting the clinic” and was “elated” to receive her vaccine on Monday, she said.
