Investigator say the child was trying to help his mother when the police arrived. The accident happened at 15th and washington around 7 30. Investigator say the 29yearold mother her eightyearold son were crossing when her hit by the route 27 bus. That mother was pronounced dead at the scene, the child is now in Good Condition at Childrens Hospital. Police describe how it happened. Trying to make a lefthand turn making a wide lefthand turn to go eastbound on washington avenue. She was running in front of the bus. Reporter even veterans officers were shaken by the sight they encountered when they raced to the 1500 block have of washington avenue. Beneath wheels of the september bus police says a 29 yearold mother died as she was struck crossing washington avenue at 15th street with her eight yearold son at her side. Reporter good morning, the family identified the victim who was burned badly here, at this gas station, late last night, as 21 year old Jacqueline Lopez of northeast philadelphia, they tell me, she is a single mother, of a young daughter, just three years old, and that daughter was actually here at this gas station at the time of the accident last night.
