Jacobs Farm del Cabo is making significant progress in its ClimateLab efforts, a program focused on building a more inclusive, climate-resilient food system. For close to 40 years, the company has helped hundreds of small-scale, organic family farms and increased farmer incomes by 10 times, yet climate-related events have rapidly become the most significant threat to protecting and ensuring those gains for thousands of farmers and their families.
New paper clamshell for tomatoes introduced
Jacobs Farm del Cabo is excited to introduce a paper-based clamshell under the del Cabo brand as an alternative to single-use plastic clamshells. This year alone, the paperboard pack is projected to reduce the company’s plastic waste by half a million pounds.
“Plastic reduction is an important part of our broader climate change initiative, ClimateLab™, designed to both mitigate our impact and help our farming communities develop the tools needed to face the implications of climate change,” says Aaron Brookes, director of sales and marketing. “The introduction of paper-based clamshells is part of a steady shift toward more sustainable materials.”
