Leon Ayinde and a trialist were on target as Town’s U21s beat 10-man Wigan Athletic 2-0 at Portman Road. Ayinde gave the Blues the lead in the 26th minute as Town dominated the first half and the trialist forward came off the bench in a much more closely fought second period to seal the points for the home side in the 85th minute after the Latics had been reduced in number following the dismissal of one of their trialists for two bookable offences.
Town’s U18s crashed out of the FA Youth Cup at the third round stage following a 2-1 defeat to Swansea at Portman Road. The Swans went in front via goals against the run of play in the final five minutes of the first half before Steven Turner netted a penalty just before the break to bring the Blues back into it but Town were unable to kick on in the second half.
Goals from Leon Ayinde, Matty Roberts, Ash Boatswain and Nico Valentine saw Town’s U21s - who were reduced to 10 men in the closing stages - to a 4-1 victory over Watford at Playford Road.
Town s U21 side were beaten 2-1 by Birmingham City at Bent Lane on Tuesday afternoon. Romelle Donovan gave the visitors an early lead before Jacob Mazionis (pictured) equalised, only for Junior Dixon to secure what turned out to be the winner.
