The patent, titled “Visual Targeting Apparatus and System,” adds to Umarex’s growing intellectual property portfolio and is directly associated with the optical technology used in the Second Zero, an innovative accessory within the company’s Axeon Optics brand.
The optical technology protected by the newly issued patent and used to create the Axeon Second Zero was invented by optical engineer, John Baker and his son, Jacob Baker. Their goal was to create a device for the rifle shooter that when placed in front of an optic, instantly creates an additional zero distance. The result was a patented, revolutionary long-range shooting accessory that effectively extends a shooter’s ability to hit targets at ranges beyond his or her initial zero or point-blank range. The Corbin Redhounds Baseball team ran its current winning streak to three games Monday night with a 15-0 win at Williamsburg.
Bradric Helton threw three innings of one-hit baseball for the Redhounds, while striking out seven, and drove in three runs for Corbin.
“The guys did what they needed to last night and have to come back tonight refocused to do the same thing,” said Coach Cody Philpot noting the teams were scheduled to play Tuesday night at Corbin.
The game had not yet been completed as of press time.
The Redhounds were coming off an 8-5 victory at Somerset on Saturday.

DeKALB The award-winning “Swept Under the Rug” exhibit returned to the Pick Museum of Anthropology. The exhibit, which received the “2020 Award of Superior Achievement” from the Illinois Association of Museums, will be showing throughout April.
