04/30/2021 We sometimes see TV reporters, anchors and analysts working sports equipment into their on-air reports a bit, whether that’s with illustrativestudiosetups, with studio props, or with trying to do sports feats like kicking a field goal. (There haven’t been many reporters actually participating in major league sporting events for a while, but that’s happened too at times.) The latest thing on this front came at the end of NFL Network reporter James Palmer’s interview with recent #1 overall pick Trevor Lawrence in Jacksonville Friday; Palmer asked if Lawrence would throw a pass to him, which would be Lawrence’s first pass as a NFL player. Over 4,000 trees were given away during Arbor Day celebrations in Jacksonville and Anniston through community partnerships with Alabama Power. In Montgomery, winners of the annual Governor’s Arbor Day poster contest will gather Thursday, Feb. 25 on the Capitol grounds. The city of Hoover’s Arbor Day giveaway is Saturday, March 6 at Aldridge Gardens from 9 a.m. until noon.

Lafayette Ave., at 3 p.m. then Saturday, Dec. 19, at the Beardstown Elks Lodge, 205 S. Second St., at 10 a.m. and at the Rushville Public Library, 514 Maple Ave., at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 28. The events will continue while supplies are available. Those taking part should wear a face mask and have space available in the trunk or back seat for volunteers to place food.
