He is author of jacksons sword and peace keepers and conquerers on the nations borders and frontiers between the war of 1812 and the war with mexico. It is published by united press of kansas which together won the distinguished book award for the society of military history. Incidentally it is which we are part. He is coed to of the west point history of warfare which won the society for military history he is coed to of the history of the civil war which won the Army Historical foin dags writing award. Im with the Mississippi Department of archives and history. Welcome to the heritage mississippi series panel. The director of the department of archives and history and a longtime member of the historicahistorical society twoe groups responsible for the book series will moderate the panel. Citizens here, still feeling very pained about what happened yesterday. The local newspaper, the advocate, really says it all. This is how people feel. This was senseless. Prominently displayed the three Police Officers killed, brad garafol, Montrel Jackson, their service with the Baton Rouge Police community, one year to ten years. It was just yesterday morning, just down the street on this busy highway here, airline highway, where the suspect was seen carrying a long armed rifle. Now we now, an ar15, witnesses called in, Police Responded. Six officers hit. Three were killed. This community is trying to resume to some sort of normalcy here. We heard from Baton Rouge Police yesterday, saying already, police had felt depleted over the last 12 to 14 days, after the Police Involved shooting of alton sterling. And now this. You can hear the road behind me, people are trying to get back to some normalcy about a mile and a half away at the bequick, thats where the shooting took plalg place.
