Council agrees to waive certain fees for 100% permanently deed-restricted housing developments

In an effort to save staff time and development costs by creating a uniform process to which town staff can refer, the Town Council on Monday agreed to waive certain fees for 100% permanently deed-restricted housing developments. Prior to the decision, Housing Department and town staff had to spend a good amount of time assessing each project that came across their desks individually, rather than having a predetermined set of fees that would be waived for such qualifying developments, said Jackson/Teton County Housing Department Director April Norton. Norton and Jackson Community Development Director Tyler Sinclair wrote in their staff report that by allowing staff to waive certain fees, “development costs are lowered, public-private partnerships can achieve greater affordability, and private development of permanently deed-restricted housing may be catalyzed.” On the other side of the coin, though, the pair recognized that any reduction in fees collected could affect dep
