that doesn t mean that something terrible did not happen to jackie. we are just not able to gather sufficient facts to conclude what that something may have been. reporter: the lengthy rolling stone article was published in november. a woman the magazine called jackie claims she was gang raped in 201 by seven february at the ph icap a si house. were you able to find the fraternity member who orchestrated this attack? no. reporter: charlottesville police chief said jackie did not cooperate with the rape investigation. the shocking story initially led university officials to halt all greek activities but soon jackie s friends began to raise doubts. she said there were five men. the article reported seven. reporter: rolling stone apologized to the readers saying there now appears to be discrepancies in jackie s account. on the campus they worry the discredited story will have a chilling affect on future sexual assault victims coming forward.

rolling stone of blaming the rape victim. it is drawing fire for lacking journalistic integrity. she never questioned drew who jackie claims lured her into the ladies and gentlemened gang rape. there were reports they were looking for a rape vic to him to write about. she got a point across saying there was a lot of rapes on university campuses. i am not denying that but her being in love with the story so much stopped her from acting as a journalist. when the story broke in november uva suspended all fraternities and sororities. now they are calling on them to lift the ban. let s keep talking about this. can the magazine ever recover? weigh in at hash tag keep
now every key detail has been disputed or debunked. a freshman named jackie on september 28, 2012, was allegedly gang raped at a fraternity party by seven men pledging for phi kappa psi. but there was no party and that they don t have pledges in the fall. and the washington post reports the men jackie claims took her to the party and orchestrated the rape wasn t a member of phi kappa psi. and while he knows her he has never taken her anywhere. she never contacted the alleged attackers because jackie asked her not to. as of yesterday rolling stone was fine with that saying it found jackie s story entirely credible and courageous. now the magazine is backpeddling saying, there now appear to be discrepancies in jackie s account, and we have come to the conclusion that our trust in her was misplaced.
