It wasn’t the start the Calvary Lutheran Lions were looking for. The Lions fell into an early 14-point deficit Tuesday night against the St. Elizabeth Hornets and dropped an 80-57 decision at Calvary Lutheran High School. St. Elizabeth scored on its first three possessions on its way to a 16-2 lead with a little less than two minutes remaining in the first quarter.
The Jefferson City American Legion Post 5 Seniors nearly overcame a six-run deficit Saturday, but Tupelo (Miss.) Post 49 held on for a 7-5 victory in an elimination game during the American Legion Mid-South Regional at Bobby Hayes Stadium. The Post 5 Seniors, who were making their third appearance at the Mid-South Regional since 2017, finished fourth out of eight teams in the tournament and ended the season with a 26-7-1 record.
Through two innings, Thursday’s game between the Jefferson City American Legion Post 5 Seniors and Troy (Ala.) Post 70 was on pace to be a high-scoring affair. Troy’s Walker Stallworth had other plans. Stallworth allowed just two hits in 5⅔ innings of relief, guiding Post 70 to a 12-5 victory against the Post 5 Seniors in a winner’s bracket game at the American Legion Mid-South Regional at Bobby Hayes Stadium.
