May 27, 1941: The British Royal Navy sank the German battleship Bismarck off France with a loss of some 2,000 lives, three days after the Bismarck sank the HMS Hood with the loss of more than 1,400 lives. Amid rising world tensions, President Franklin D. Roosevelt proclaimed an “unlimited national emergency” during a radio address from the White House.

1861: Chief Justice Roger Taney, sitting as a federal circuit court judge in Baltimore, ruled that President Abraham Lincoln lacked the authority to suspend the writ of habeas corpus (Lincoln disregarded the ruling).
1896: 255 people were killed when a tornado struck St. Louis and East St. Louis, Illinois.

Candlebox- “My Weakness”
To say Candlebox is underrated would be a ridiculous statement, I mean they were huge in the 90s and still tour to sold out crowds to this day. BUT, I’ve always felt their 1998 record, “Happy Pills” was extremely underrated. I remember a Venture store, remember those?, was closing in St.Louis and all their CD’s were super cheap. I was browsing and came across “Happy Pills” and it became one of my favorite records of that year. It commercially didn’t do as well as their other records but I loved what they were doing on that album. The reason I bring up that record is I feel like their latest single they dropped Friday, “My Weakness” picks up where “Happy Pills” left off.
