years is that red tape is mainly to blame for this. it is a very highly bureaucratic process, and people are trying to reach a, trying to get the money to repair their homes, to municipalities are trying to get the money to build roads or other infrastructure, and it s been very, very hard to get the money. when i say that i don t know that we ve learned the lesson, it s that i ve been out. i ve been reporting in the field. and i ve talked to people who have already filed for fema aid, and it s been denied because of different reasons. so, i think that the highly bureaucratic construction process needs to be revamped. ivonne, question for you. what would you say is the most urgent need for people on the island right now? i would have to agree.
the interconnection to power and health, as we know, is very interconnected. so, a lot of medical services have been, can you still hear me? yes, we hear you. go right ahead. okay. okay. yeah, so a lot of the medical services have been interrupted, and that is our main focus right now. we are doing outreach programs to help reach those communities that are very vulnerable, who have no access. i do have to agree, it s power. our grid is very weak, and like i said, there s over 1 million people right now with power. right now, supermarkets are saying that they are going to start closing off. we have some hospitals that have to be moving patients around, so, yeah. if it is truly a problem here in puerto rico. please stay safe as you continue to tell people on the ground there and keep us posted on what those most urgent needs are. thank you are, ivonne rodriguez and laura perez sanchez. we will definitely be in touch as we continue those efforts.
