In order to complete the process of filing of the ITR, you must also verify your Income Tax Returns. Without verification within the stipulated time, an ITR is treated as invalid.
This relaxation, however, shall not apply in those cases, where during the intervening period, Income-tax Department has already taken recourse to any other measure as specified in the Act for ensuring filing of tax return by the taxpayer concerned after declaring the return as non-est.

New Delhi: Though the last date of filing Income Tax returns for FY 2019-20 is over for individual filers, there has been a constant rumours in the media that the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) may extend the ITR deadline further.
Clearing the air on the media buzz, CBDT has said that there will be no extension for the above group of ITR filers for AY 2020-21. Replying to an RTI query, CBDT told the Gujarat High Court that there was no such plan. It also apprised the Gujarat HC that the due date for Audit Report filing has already been extended till 15th February 2021.
