presidency is that i have mixed motives, i think rick makes the point that, look, i was concerned about corruption, i was concerned about burden sharing, i was concerned about biden, i m allowed to do this as president. you can t impeach me for it. now, the problem with that defense is that he doesn t acknowledge the facts that are clear on the ground, which was he was withholding the aid and withholding the meeting because at least, in part, that he wanted dirt on biden and that s an abuse of power and that s what congress has to take action on. the part that we can t explain is how sondland got it so wrong. he s changed his testimony three times. to protect the president. at first it was to protect the president. there was no quid pro quo. oh, i forgot. i m the one who offered it pup? come on. i think this morning there
president whose attention strays from issue to issue, suddenly telling, you know, this obscure department in the government, give this guy a chance. you re not being very charitable to mr. fisher. let me just say, he s trying to get business and he wants this done. i m not saying he did anything illegal. i m just saying, this is the new swamp. but my only point is, he s not a grifter, he s just trying to get business, but boy, he s a big republican donor. i can t imagine the scandal if president obama was pushing for some big chicago contractor to get some job like that. big donor, well connected, that doesn t sound like cleaning the swamp. that sounds like playing by your own set of rules, all the things that trump said he wasn t going to do. the same week, by the way, that democrats are saying he s covering things up and we re talking about obstruction of justice and we re talking about dish me i mean, this actually feeds into that narrative, and to your point, they re not
mnuchin and devos and pued puzder are all very wealthy people. they say they need more time and democrats are applying pressure saying the nominees are not receiving the proper scrutiny. that is holding it pup in the case of devos, real political problems. the teachers unions, as a trump aide said to me yesterday, see her as an existential threat to them and that is going to complicate their hearings. reverend al, jeff sessions nomination do you think the hearings are being held the right way? i was at the hearing yesterday and sat with other civil rights leaders. other than one, i didn t see an aggressive type of questions.
they re not just showing up because it s a cool trend to be at these rallies. which in some ways didn t translate on the democratic early on, first time i ran for office said, get $1,000 contributor which i wasn t getting, and i said, nobody will give me money. don t worry about it pup get the guy to get you $25. right. he ll go to the gates of hell with you. ask bernie sanders about that. right, and let me say it again. people are confused about michigan and wisconsin. bernie won michigan and wisconsin. we saw this back in march. well, she was a shock. she was ahead by 8 to 20 points on the day of the primary. big turnaround. and 12 hours later loses in michigan. and that was a huge red flag. the other red flag was 130,000 more people who voted on the republican ballot that day in michigan than the democratic ballot in a democratic state. 130,000 more republicans voted. and the media completely ignored this.
