The Board of Governors of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem announced Wednesday that Professor Mona Khoury-Kassbari has been elected Vice President of Strategy and Diversity, becoming the first Arab to fill a senior vice president position at the prestigious academic institution.
Khoury-Kassabri will be responsible for broadening the ranks of the university’s academic staff and student body with members from underrepresented communities in academia, including ultra-Orthodox Jews, Arabs, Ethiopians and people with disabilities.
In addition, Khoury-Kassabri will be charged with implementing the university’s strategic priorities, among them raising the social, economic and environmental impact of the university, increasing the cross-disciplinary efforts among the university’s six campuses and adapting teaching methods to the post-Corona period.

As a member of a family who has been in Jerusalem for seven generations, and the son of a father who translated the Holy Quran from Arabic to Hebrew, I still remember the days when Jews, Muslims and Christians would sit together on our balcony in Jerusalem. For years, I dreamt that these days would return, and for years, I wasn t sure that I would see this miracle with my own eyes. But now, that dream is becoming true, and we are seeing tremendous and wonderful change in the region.

Despite pandemic, Tech2Peace barrels ahead with program aimed at building lasting business partnerships
A worldwide pandemic has failed to put a damper on an initiative that aims to bring together young Israeli and Palestinian entrepreneurs and tech enthusiasts.
Joint Israeli-Palestinian NGO Tech2Peace is barreling ahead with plans to double the size of its intensive tech seminars in 2021. Health restrictions and lockdowns notwithstanding, over the past year 60 people took part in the organization’s program, which not only provides participants with valuable tech skills but also promotes peace through dialogue.
