Discriminatory and harmful bills targeting transgender and gender diverse adolescents are sweeping the state legislatures. More than 20 states have introduced legislation to ban gender affirming care for adolescents, many of which would impose criminal penalties on clinicians providing this care.
This conversation with expert Dr. Beth Cronin, Chair of ACOG s Rhode Island Section and member of the Committee on Health Care for Underserved Women, discusses the impact of these bills on patients, advocacy approaches to counter them, and how ob-gyns can support transgender health and rights in the face of this challenging political environment.
