ISHPEMING, MI – James O. Haines, age 76, of Ishpeming Twp., passed peacefully on January 15, 2021, in the burn trauma unit, in Ann Arbor, Mi.
Jim was born in Saginaw and later moved to Benton Harbor where he graduated from high school and attended Lake Michigan College. Jim and his wife began building their home in Ishpeming Township in 1990 and settled there in 1996. Jim was a member of Sheet Metal Workers Local 7, retiring in 2009.
Jim enjoyed his life: building his house and shop, rebuilding machinery, living in the woods, having beers with friends, and the monthly trips to Big Bay for Folk Jam Night.

LANSING Michigan families and educators plan to hold virtual events to safely spotlight education options during School Choice Week 2021, set for Sunday through Jan. 30.
They are set to host 1,122 virtual or at-home celebrations during the week, including a series of video testimonials.Taking place annually since 2011, School Choice Week is America’s largest celebration of educational choice.
A growing number of Michigan communities have issued proclamations recognizing School Choice Week, including Ishpeming Township as well as downstate Dearborn Heights, Port Sheldon Township, Columbus and Auburn Hills.
