A business owner in the city of Macerata in central Italy has been reported to authorities on charges of committing gangmastering. He is accused of allegedly forcing foreign citizens to pay 6,000 euros to regularize their position in Italy.
The number of migrants who tried to cross irregularly into the European Union in January was up 78% compared to the same month in 2021. That's according to new figures released by EU border agency Frontex.
