At least 23 migrants have been found dead in a shipwreck off the coast of Tunisia. Seventy of their fellow passengers were rescued by the Tunisian navy, according to an NGO.
At least 23 African migrants drowned in a shipwreck off Tunisia on Tuesday, June 1, as they tried to cross the Mediterranean from Libya to Italy. 70 migrants were rescued by the Tunisian navy in the incident, the Tunisian Red Crescent humanitarian organisation reported.

French maritime authorities say they have rescued 84 people aboard four vessels who attempted to reach the UK from France s northern coast. The number of irregular Channel crossings from France to the UK has risen sharply since late 2018.
A French navy patrol ship carried out the first of four rescues on Saturday (April 10) when it picked up 11 migrants off the coast at the small seaside town le Touquet overnight and dropped them off in nearby Boulogne-sur-Mer early in the morning, French news agency

Italian authorities say they have intercepted 187 migrants on three boats near the coast of Lampedusa and brought them to safety. The rescues come as the number of migrants risking the Mediterranean crossing to Europe is rising.
Within the space of several hours on Tuesday (March 9), Italian coast guards reportedly discovered three boats with a total of 187 people and subsequently brought them to Italy. According to Italian news agency
Adnkronos, many of the rescuees are from Africa.
The 53 passengers on the first boat, who included minors, were picked up by a coast guard vessel near Lampedusa. Another police vessel stopped a second boat with 19 people on board; the third boat that authorities discovered was carrying 115 people.
