Ekiti lawmaker condemns medical tourism, backs state police, legislative autonomy

The lawmaker who represents Ado/Irepodun/Ifelodun federal constituency of Ekiti State, also described as apt and expedient, the agitations by Nigerians for a state Police and legislative autonomy for states, saying the duo are critical to the country’s socio-political and economic development. The All Progressives Congress(APC) lawmaker, spoke in Ado Ekiti on Thursday while commissioning N450 million worth of projects he built and donated as democracy dividends to his constituency.

Suspect arrested over alleged plan to attack station, kill DPO in Ekiti

Share The police of Ekiti State have arrested one Akirun Peter who was planning with others to attack the new police station in Iyin-Ekiti, Irepodun/Ifelodun local government area of Ekiti and to kill the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in the station. The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) ASP Sunday Abutu while parading suspected criminals at the command’s headquarters in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital said the suspect was also planning to kidnap an unnamed police officer in the station and asked N5 million ransom from the family. Abutu noted that on 3rd March 2021, the surveillance team of the command suspected his movement and when accosted he could not give satisfactory explanations on his mission in the state.

Chinese expatriate kidnapped in Ekiti

The expatriate identified as one of those supervising the construction of Ilupeju-Ire-Igbemo-Ijan road, was said to have been waylaid at Igbemo-Ekiti while driving in a Hilux Van and whisked away to unknown destination by arm-wielding attackers.
