keeping them honest tonight. it is kind of hard to tell. today the supreme court heard oral arguments on the challenge to the strict illegal immigration law. the law requires local police officers to check a person s immigration status while enforcing other laws, if they reasonably suspect that person is in the country illegally. we asked the romney campaign where specifically does the governor stand on this, does he support it, support it with reservations or oppose it. here s the answer we got. quote, governor romney supports the right of states to assist the federal government in enforcing immigration laws especially when the federal government has failed their duty to enforce those laws. that is one of the issues the supreme court is trying to address. it doesn t answer the question whether he supports sp 1070. january 11th as he was campaigning in south carolina, governor romney was touting the endorsement of kansas secretary of state chris cobash who wrote the 1070 law.
