gregg: the stimulus is still haunting democrats if you look at poll results. what about terminating all the unspent stimulus money and returning to it treasury to try to reduce the deficit? are democrats going to kick and scream about that one? definitely. republicans proposed that before and in house they are going to have the power to do that. there will be battles over that. the issue for president obama as well as the new republican majority in the house and senate majority leader harry reid is that they ve got to get unemployment down. they have to get it down to 9% or this voter angst is going to intensify. and that means getting things done. they are going to fight over healthcare but they will have to have some type of productive 112th congress. gregg: and they are going to fight over earmarks and
with both wings of the house and senate you can get a lot of things done. this president got a lot of things done and a lot of damage was done to this country. reporter: even with the massive majorities they weren t able to pass cap and trade or a budget for the year. they failed to reform the immigration system and the dream act. the new congress gets sworn in on wednesday. gregg: peter, thanks. julie: happy birthday babyboomers, first ones starting to turn 65 years today and that brings a flood of applications for medicare. many are concerned that it can drain our economy. what can be done to save it and what sort of economic impact will it have on future generations. joining me is christian magune. how concerned should we be that babyboomers like gregg jarrett

if you will does seem redundant two years ago, giving joblessness has only going up in the intervening period, is that a resolution that he has failed to keep? he certainly failed in and the congress failed to get unemployment under wraps. in his state of the union the focus would be jobs. democrats passed a jobs bill. it s not an easy issue for republicans or democrats. they have to come together and i think the american people are tired. they want results. we ve seen the last three elections that voters are angry and if they don t come up with clear results, including a republican controlled house, there will be anti-incumbency issues. i do think they can reach some agreement on education, energy and trade. will that that solve the problem overnight? probably not. but they have to have some kind of plan while getting the deficit under control.
