Meerut: In a shocking incident, a couple in love committed suicide by consuming poison after their parents allegedly rejected their marriage proposal.
The incident took place at a hotel in Meerut district of Uttar Pradesh on Monday. The victims have been identified as Sonu Singh (20), a resident of Sonepat in Haryana and Shumayla (20), a resident of Zakir Colony in Meerut.

New Delhi: The Bombay high court on Tuesday came in defence of an interfaith couple and the right of a woman to ‘move as per her own wish’ in a habeas corpus petition that was filed before it.
Indian Express, the court made these observations while disposing a plea filed by an MBA student, asking that a 23-year-old woman whom he wanted to get married be produced before the court. The petition said the woman was “illegally detained” by her parents because they opposed the couple’s relationship because they were of different faiths.
