I want to highlight a couple of the instances. In the fall of 2009, n. S. A. Using 702 authority intercepted an email from a terrorist located in pakistan. That individual was talking with an individual located inside the United States talking about perfecting a recipe for explosives. Through Legal Process, that individual was identified and he was located in denver, colorado. The f. B. I. Followed him to new york city and later executed search warrants with the new York Joint Terrorism Task force and n. Y. P. D. And found bombmaking components and backpacks. He later confessed to a plot to bomb the new york subway system with backpacks.

Kim has put together a short video reminder of what happened in 2012. A wave of Mass Shootings renewed ageold theological discussions about evil, suffering and tragedy. Especially after the massacre at the connecticut elementary school, many religious leaders repeated calls for stricter gun control measures. Some called it a prolife issue. One of the Mass Shootings took place in a house of worship. In august, six people were killed when a gunman opened fire at a sikh temple in oak creek, wisconsin. Once again, religion played
And carefulness. An effort. The numbers recently over the past year have become staggering. Our agency and many others cannot possibly meet the need in the current situation. We have been turning away cases which is heartbreaking. So thats the bad news. But we are in a community that has a wealth of Nonprofit Community nonprofit agencies with experience and with commitment and we are also in a community that is an incredibly generous committed private bar. This summer our Office Hosted 2 trainings for private attorneys who wish to volunteer in these cases between the 2 trainings over 200 attorney showed up. But we dont have the staffing to properly utilize that energy. We werent weve not been able to send nearly the number of cases that we want to to these volunteers but because the cases are there but because we dont have the staffing. This supplemental make a difference and together with the city, the Nonprofit Community, and the private are working together with the supplemental we

At the vatican, pope francis highlighted the middle east, iraq and ukraine and led prayers for peace and reconciliation everywhere. Religious groups continued to raise concerns about the conflict between israel and the palestinians. Christian, muslim and some jewish groups issued new statements decrying the large number of Palestinian Civilians killed and urging israel to lift its longstanding blockade against gaza. Many other jewish groups and some christians maintained their solidarity with israel and accused hamas of using civilians as human shields. They also condemned antisemitic attacks tied to antiisrael protests in europe. Faithbased relief groups denounced the humanitarian impact of the violence, especially on the children of gaza.
