Institutional failures are the products of poor policies. The term ‘corruption’ often gets in the way of analysis and it obscures potential solutions. Not everything will be solved by arresting and convicting baddies and throwing away the keys to their cells.
Integrity is the antidote we needWhat is clearly missing in the South African response to fighting corruption is emphasis by all actors on the importance of building a culture of integrity. We need personal integrity where individuals question and account for their own daily actions.
