Manufacturing Bits: March 16

Manufacturing Bits: March 16 Tripping up neural networks For years, Russia has been an active area in R&D. In one example, Russia’s Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology (Skoltech) has demonstrated how certain patterns can cause neural networks to make mistakes in recognizing images. Leveraging the theory behind this research, Skoltech can design defenses for pattern recognition systems that are vulnerable to attacks. A subset of AI, machine learning is a technology that make use of a neural network in a system. In this system, the neural network crunches data and identify patterns. It then matches certain patterns and learns which of those attributes are important.

Researchers Perform Experimental Study of New High Temperature Superconductor

Researchers Perform Experimental Study of New High Temperature Superconductor Written by AZoMMar 11 2021 An international team of researchers has carried out experimental and theoretical studies on a new high temperature superconductor, yttrium hydride (YH 6). Scientists have synthesized a new high temperature superconductor. Image Credit: Ivan A. Troyan, et al./Advanced Materials. The results of the study, which was led by Artem R. Oganov, a Professor at Skoltech and MISIS, and Dr. Ivan Troyan from the Institute of Crystallography of RAS, were published in the Advanced Materials journal. Until now, Yttrium hydrides grade among the three known highest temperature superconductors. The leader among the three is a material with an unfamiliar S-C-H composition and superconductivity at 288 K.

Scientists have synthesized a new high-temperature superconductor

An international team of scientists performed theoretical and experimental research on a new high-temperature superconductor, yttrium hydride (YH6). Until 2015, 138 K (or 166 K under pressure) was the record of high-temperature superconductivity. Room-temperature superconductivity, which would have been laughable five years ago, has become a reality. Right now, the whole point is to attain room-temperature superconductivity at lower pressures. Scientists reported that YH6 displays a superconducting transition at ?224 K at 166 GPa.
