Mobility on demand (MOD) is a new concept that enables consumers to access mobility services on demand by dispatching or using shared mobility, delivery services, and public transportation solutions through an integrated multi-modal network. The system not only decreases the total waiting time for passengers, but also maximizes its net profit.

Novel fast-beam-switching transceiver takes 5G to the next level

Scientists at Tokyo Institute of Technology and NEC Corporation jointly develop a 28-GHz phased-array transceiver that supports efficient and reliable 5G communications. The proposed transceiver outperforms previous designs in various regards by adapting fast beam switching and leakage cancellation mechanism.

World s largest outdoor earthquake simulator undergoes major upgrade

A major upgrade to the world s largest outdoor earthquake simulator reached a milestone mid-April when the facility s floor all 300,000 lbs of it was put back into place. When completed this fall, the simulator will have the ability to reproduce multi-dimensional earthquake motions with unprecedented accuracy to make structures and their residents safer during strong shakes. Researchers lay out the details of the upgrade in a paper published in January 2021 in Frontiers in Built Environment.
