GRAND FORKS, N.D (UND Athletics)– Trailing by as many as 19 in the first half and 18 over the final 20 minutes, the University of North Dakota men’s basketball team rallied to defeat Western Illinois, 83-81, on Friday night from the Betty Engelstad Sioux Center in Grand Forks.
UND (5-13, 4-5 Summit League) weathered a barrage in the first half from Western Illinois’ (2-12, 0-7 Summit League) Will Carius, who tallied 22 of his season-high 34 in the opening 20 minutes, to mount the largest comeback victory for the team since March 6, 2018 vs. Montana State in the Big Sky Conference Quarterfinals.
Filip Rebraca was huge in helping spark the comeback for the Fighting Hawks, scoring a team-high 25 points on 7-of-10 from the field while grabbing 14 rebounds and dishing out four assists for his second double-double of the season. The junior scored 18 of his points, had seven of his boards and all four of his helpers in the second half.

TULSA, Okla. – (UND Athletics) The University of North Dakota men’s basketball team dropped a 74-57 decision to Oral Roberts on Saturday night from the Mabee Center in Tulsa, Okla.
UND (3-10, 2-2 Summit League) trimmed a 21-point deficit down to eight in the second half, but could not overcome Oral Roberts (6-6, 3-1 Summit League) and had to settle for the weekend split.
Caleb Nero enjoyed his best game as a Fighting Hawk in his second game in his hometown, scoring a game-high 17 points on 6-of-14 from the field while adding three assists and a pair of rebounds. CARBONDALE, Ill. (UND Athletics)– No. 17 in the Mid Major Top-25 Southern Illinois defeated North Dakota, 62-50, on Friday afternoon in the second of two meetings between the programs in consecutive days from Carbondale.
UND (1-7) put together a strong 20 minutes to head to the locker room trailing by just four, but the Salukis (5-0) used the opening portion of the second half to build a 19-point advantage that proved too much to overcome.
Filip Rebraca battled to record his 16th straight game in double figures, but was held to just 4-of-10 from the field for a season-low 11 points. The junior led the team with eight rebounds while also recording an assist and steal.
