A tourist-friendly hotspot on Seattle s waterfront is making plans to reopen following the dramatic collapse of Pier 58 in September.
The city announced Monday that Pier 57, which includes Miner s Landing and The Seattle Great Wheel, can reopen to the public after almost 4 months of closure. The potential hazard to Pier 57 has been eliminated by the successful removal of key portions of Pier 58 immediately to the north, said Seattle Department of Construction and Inspections Director Nathan Torgelson in a news release. Our inspectors have coordinated with the city s engineering consultant and inspected Pier 57 to confirm it can be safely reopened.
