Florida s Property Insurance Market Is Spiraling Towards Collapse Due to Litigation: Report

Florida’s Property Insurance Market Is ‘Spiraling Towards Collapse’ Due to Litigation: Report Florida’s property insurance market is “spiraling towards collapse” and requires immediate attention if there is any chance of protecting the market, consumers, and ultimately, the state’s economy, according to an analysis about to be presented to the Florida Legislature. The report points a finger at the state’s “litigation economy” as the main contributor to insurance market woes seeing it as more of a direct cause than the many weather events Florida has suffered. Among its findings: Litigation frequency and severity represents an additional expense load of 17% (and rising) on all earned premiums for insurers in Florida compared with other catastrophe-prone states.

Researchers develop new system for direct detection of SARS-CoV-2 in aerosols

Researchers develop new system for direct detection of SARS-CoV-2 in aerosols Researchers from the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV), in collaboration with specialists from the University of Valencia (UV), have come up with a new system based on a high-sensitivity mass biosensor that continuously monitors signals for the direct detection of SARS-CoV-2 in environmental aerosols. The device, in prototype phase, makes it possible to assess the quality of the air and allows an early detection of the virus in inside spaces such as homes, classrooms, restaurants, cinemas or means of transportation. This way of spreading is gaining importance, which is why preventive control strategies must take into account the spreading of the virus via aerosols for an effective mitigation of SARS-CoV-2. The system we have developed is based on a mass biosensor that uses specific antibodies that can detect the SARS-CoV-2 virus in the air, highlights ángel Maquieira, professor of the Department

The achievement seems all the more profound when juxtaposed with a very pessimistic outlook of Asia’s development prospects made by Gunnar Myrdal in his three-volume tome  Asian Drama: An Inquiry into the Poverty of Nations, published in 1968.
