Kentucky Budget Official Gives Update on Broadband Expansion With $300 million to spend on expanding broadband service across the state, the Kentucky Infrastructure Authority plans to solicit Internet businesses on how to best proceed in anticipation of awarding bids on projects. June 03, 2021 •  (TNS) With $300 million to spend on expanding broadband internet service across rural Kentucky, the Kentucky Infrastructure Authority plans to solicit the opinions of internet businesses on how to best proceed this summer in anticipation of awarding bids on projects. Members of the Interim Joint Committee on Appropriations and Revenue discussed the upcoming broadband expansion project during a Wednesday afternoon meeting in Frankfort.

Building Envelope Erection Services, Inc gets $75,000 grant to expand

Kinston/Jones Free Press (kfp) State funds will go to help a Green County company expand and add between 9 to 17 additional jobs.  The NC Rural Infrastructure Authority announced April 15 that Building Envelope Erection Services, Inc. will receive a $75,000 grant from the state’s Building Reuse Program. Building Envelope Erection Services Inc. is a fabricator and deliverer of project-specific aluminum framing used in the construction of mid-size commercial buildings, The company is looking to grow its Snow Hill facility. Some of the demand for Aluminum framing is being driven by demand related to the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the news release. 

Gov Gordon Offers Up Wyoming To Host Elon Musk-Funded XPRIZE

Credit XPRIZE Foundation As the $20 million NRG COSIA Carbon XPRIZE comes to a close in Wyoming, Gov. Mark Gordon has offered up the state to once again host an XPRIZE competition, public records acquired by Wyoming Public Media show. The offer followed a cryptic Jan. 21 tweet from Elon Musk, CEO and founder of Tesla, which read: Am donating $100M towards a prize for best carbon capture technology. The tweet sparked a conversation in the Governor s office of how to best be a part of the effort. Discussion resulted in a letter sent Jan. 27 to the non-profit XPRIZE Foundation to pass along to Musk. It laid out how Wyoming would be well-positioned to host the new XPRIZE competition. Gordon began the letter by outlining the state s interest in carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS).
