Telangana urges Centre for scheme in lieu of ITIR

Hyderabad: Telangana’s Information Technology Minister K T Rama Rao on Sunday urged the Centre to announce a scheme or an initiative for Hyderabad in lieu of Information Technology and Investment Region (ITIR) which it has scrapped.
In a letter to Union Minister for Information Technology Ravi Shankar Prasad, it is clear that the Union government is not inclined to continue the ITIR scheme, he may consider providing a scheme/initiative in its place to ensure that cities like Hyderabad continue to flourish and provide employment to youngsters.

In a major boost to India s manufacturing centre, the government has approved a Rs 7,350 crore Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme to promote the manufacturing of laptops, tablets, all-in-one PCs and servers in the country. Through this scheme, the government intends to attract global companies in the domestic manufacturing sector. The PLI scheme will help in promoting the electronics ecosystem in the country.

Union Information & Broadcasting (I&B) Minister Prakash Javadekar during a joint press conference with Union Minister of Electronics & Information Technology Ravi Shankar Prasad urged over-the-top (OTT) platforms to come with self-regulatory guidelines.
His ministry prescribed the guidelines on the code of ethics for online news, OTT platforms and digital media based on a soft-touch self-regulatory architecture and three-tier grievance redressal mechanism for such online services.
