Arkansas National Guard sees increase of COVID-19 cases after training trip © Provided by KATV Little Rock/Pine Bluff Arkansas has nearly 9,000 active COVID-19 cases in the state. As we re seeing an increase in cases with low vaccination rates, the Arkansas National Guard is mirroring that increase too. Around 2,200 Arkansas National Guardsmen are in Fort Polk, Louisiana for 30 days for real-world training. The guard said their vaccination rate is similar to the state’s rate. The National Guard is out practicing in case they’re called up for real-world combat. “The bulk of the forces that are down in Fort Polk are from Arkansas they’re from the 39th Infantry Brigade combat team.”
