EDITORIAL: Wallingford eyes new site for police headquarters
April 13, 2021 12:02PM Wallingford has identified a building and property to purchase for a new police headquarters and has negotiated a purchase price of $1,760,700 for 100 Barnes Road, the former 3M location.Â
The Town Council is scheduled to vote this evening on approving the purchase. A public hearing is slated for the same meeting on appropriating $3.3 million in bonds for the purchase. The additional money in the appropriation is needed for an architectural and engineering design study and other incidental costs.
It may not seem ideal to move a townâs police station from a key site downtown to a less prominent location, but other towns have done so without notable problems. WALLINGFORD â Plans for a third Amazon facility in town, located on the site of the demolished Bristol-Myers Squibb facility, won the approval of the wetlands commission Wednesday evening.
