Plaintiffs Suing New Mexico Over Oil Pollution Testify Monday Before State Lawmakers

Center for Biological Diversity: SANTA FE, N.M. Youth, frontline community members and Indigenous peoples who sued the state of New Mexico this year for failing to control oil and gas pollution will present key elements of their case Monday before the Water and Natural Resources Committee. The plaintiffs will describe how oil and gas pollution violates their constitutional rights and identify steps the Legislature can take in the 2024 session to protect public health and the environment.

New Mexico Indigenous, Environmental, Frontline Groups Head to New York to Advocate for End to Fossil Fuels

Center for Biological Diversity: SANTA FE, N.M. More than 40 prominent New Mexican community leaders in the battle against oil and gas extraction will travel to New York City to participate in the March to End Fossil Fuels, a mass mobilization taking place Sept. 17 ahead of the United Nations Climate Ambition Summit. The New Mexico delegation will deliver a declaration and join global advocates in calling on President Biden and Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham to lead the way in phasing out fossil fuels.
