India's maiden solar mission Aditya-L1 will reach its destination, the Lagrangian point (L1) which is located 1.5 million km from the Earth on January 6.
The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has successfully completed the first earth-bound firing to raise the Aditya-L1 orbit. The satellite is said to be healthy and operating normally. The mission is expected to reach its destination in four months and will provide valuable data on solar activities and space weather.
Space weather refers to the conditions in the solar wind and near-Earth space, which can adversely affect the performance of space-borne and ground-based technological systems.
