Stand For Students, an organisation of Indian and international students, set up a donation link on July 7 for hundreds of Punjabi students who are fighting ‘unjust deportation’ from Canada after fake admission letters were offered to them between 2017-2020.
The Immigration, Refugees, Citizenship Canada (IRCC) held a special presentation on "Fraud Prevention" at the Consulate General of Canada in Chandigarh on Thursday.
The protesters also urged the Indian government, particularly the Punjab government, to take up the matter with the Canadian authorities and save the students from huge financial losses.
The students, who arrived in Canada between 2017-2020, alleged that they were conned by a Jalandhar-based education agent Brijesh Mishra, who ran a counselling firm by the name of Education and Immigration Services.
