India and Oman have successfully concluded negotiations for a free trade agreement (FTA), officially termed as the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA).
A section within the government is in favour of a more nuanced approach in using tariffs as a diplomatic tool, failing which there is a possibility of the gains of India’s manufacturing-focused thrust that include schemes such as Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) being squandered away.
India Oman Trade Deal: The two sides have reached consensus on a majority of the issues in the comprehensive economic partnership agreement and the talks are likely to conclude soon, the people said, asking not to be identified because the discussions are private.
