India has underlined that the purpose of the visit was only to oversee India's humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan. This assumes significance as India withdrew its diplomatic presence from Afghanistan after the Taliban seized power.
Afghanistan's Ambassador to India Farid Mamundzay said the convoy arrived in the Afghan city of Jalalabad and that the aid would now be distributed by the World Food Programme among people.
Indian humanitarian aid of around 2000 metric tons loaded in 41 Afghanistan trucks was given clearance by the Pakistan Customs department only after the banners were removed from the trucks.
