The annual Goalkeepers Report published by the Gates foundation reveals that global public health challenges have worsened due to Covid-related disruptions, leading to additional financial burden and spending cuts on public health infrastructure. The report highlights the need to refocus attention on maternal and child health and suggests new interventions that can make a transformative difference. In an interview with ET s Deborshi Chaki, Mark Suzman, CEO of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, laid down the key issues highlighted this year.
The declaration also stressed the importance of one health approach where diseases in animals, plants, and humans are tracked by the same mechanism with focus on tackling antimicrobial resistance.
