The court stated that it must balance the rights of the unborn child with the mother s right to decisional autonomy. The court suggested that the woman and her lawyer discuss the possibility of retaining the pregnancy for a few more weeks.
The Supreme Court on Wednesday delivered a split order on a woman's plea seeking the termination of a 26-week-long pregnancy. A bench of Justices Hima Kohli and BV Nagarathna were hearing the matter.
