FAIRVIEW PARK, Ohio After a summer of unrest tied to racial injustice and inequality due to the death of George Floyd, America’s attempt to address racism has moved to the local level where municipalities are taking it upon themselves to plant grassroots reform. However, good intentions aside, attacking the convoluted subject is easier said than done. For example, what should be a simple resolution process leading to the creation of Fairview Park’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Coalition has become itself a struggle for city council. Normally resolutions are written and approved in a cursory fashion. Not this one.
