WB teams in Kohistan to review security arrangements

MANSEHRA: Two high-level World Bank missions separately arrived in Upper Kohistan to review the security arraignments at the Dasu Hydropower Project and hold talks with Chinese engineers and workers, sources said on Tuesday.
The teams visited the site where 13 people, including nine Chinese nationals, two personnel of the Frontier Constabulary (FC) and two locals, were killed and 28 others sustained injuries when a bus carrying them to an under-construction tunnel site of the 4,320-megawatt Dasu Hydropower Project exploded on July 14. The members of these missions, including Masood Ahmad, Imranul Haq and Ahmad Imran Aslam, held two meetings separately with Wapda s officials and district administration. No testing on Karachi’s doorways
The megacity is home to thousands of rural-urban migrants, as well as migrants from other parts of the country

The lack of testing facilities on entry and exit points of Karachi, has left the throbbing metropolis unable to ascertain viral cases among intercity commuters traveling to or from the city. Where the Sindh government had tightened restrictions in the past to curb the spread of Covid-19 within the province, absence of rapid testing mechanisms on city borders, has left Karachi prone to an inter-city contamination.

The Express Tribune, Imranul Haq, a volunteer working for a local NGO, said that people in Karachi, like the rest of the country, have been increasingly infected with the coronavirus for the past year and a half. While the pandemic has also had a severe economic impact on the financial capital.
