ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) on Tuesday took strong exception to the performance of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and questioned as to how its chairman could sack its employees without conducting a proper inquiry.
A two-member SC bench comprising Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed and Justice Mazhar Alam Khan Miankhel dismissed as withdrawn an appeal, filed by NAB chairman against its employees. NAB Deputy Prosecutor Imranul Haq informed the court that as the Bureau had restored its two employees, Shakir Ali and Sarvech Shaikh on April 29, 2021, it did not want to continue the case further. CJ Gulzar Ahmed, however, observed as to how employees could be removed from their service without holding a proper inquiry against them.

The Supreme Court has come down hard on the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), observing that some employees of the country’s top graft buster are involved in fraud but the NAB chairman is silent and is not taking any action against them.
“What is going on in NAB? NAB is making a spectacle out of itself,” said Chief Justice of Pakistan Gulzar Ahmed on Tuesday while hearing a NAB appeal against a Sindh High Court (SHC) order to conduct an inquiry against a couple of NAB officers.

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court Friday dismissed as withdrawn a petition filed by Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) leader Hamza Shahbaz Sharif, seeking post-arrest bail in a case of money-laundering and assets beyond means.
A three-member bench of the Apex Court, headed by Justice Mushir Alam and comprising Justice Sardar Tariq Masood and Justice Yahya Afridi, heard the petition of Hamza Shahbaz. His counsel Amjad Pervez submitted that he was seeking bail on the basis of hardship, adding that his client had been behind bars for one year and seven months.

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) Friday sought a comprehensive report from the Accountability Court-II, Lahore on its formula to deal with the pending cases.
A three-member bench, headed by Justice Mushir Alam, heard a petition of Hamza Shahbaz, seeking post-arrest bail in a money-laundering and assets beyond means of income case. Justice Sardar Tariq Masood and Justice Yahya Afridi were the other members of the bench.
Justice Mushir Alam observed that the facts surfaced in the case so far were shameful but they did not want to pass any observation, as the case was in the trial stage. Prosecutor National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Imranul Haq submitted that in pursuance of the courtâs last order, details of cases pending with the Accountability Court-II Lahore had been submitted.
