suppressed. for example, if you are a transplant patient who is fully vaccinated, your chances of getting a breakthrough infection are 82 times higher than that of a fully vaccinated person from the general population. so people who are immuno suppressed know that they are less protected. they are obviously very worried about it, particularly as we enter another very scary wave in the united states. to know that they have the opportunity to try to increase that immune protection is really important. so what s the plausibility that even a third shot will not give immunocompromised people, specifically transplant recipients who you are studying, the protection that the larger population gets from just the two shots? so a lot of this we re still learning. some people who are immuno suppressed are going to be fine with two doses. some people, the third dose is all they re going to need. some people might even need a

out. but he is trying to claim that this is about parents deciding what s best for their kids. but i want you to listen to what one parent said at a school board meeting today in broward county. my child is 14 years old. she is vaccinated. she had a liver transplant. so she s immuno suppressed. my child needs to be protected. all she wants to do is go to school and learn. learn science. ironically. learn science. and she wants to live. dr. reiner, it s what s been true for the entire pandemic. it s about protecting our citizens. older americans in the beginning. the rest of us this year with vaccinations. and now children with delta. our children, particularly our kids less than 12 years old, are now our most vulnerable citizens. when the pandemic began, our most vulnerable citizens were the elderly. and now about 90% of folks over
it doesn t mean that we give up. it means we fight harder and we get to where we want to be. and we all participate. no. i think it shows how much more important the fight really is, that the vaccines are the key to keeping people healthy and safe. i do understand that breakthrough infections happen, but it s still small number, right? talking about 35,000 that is really not hang, professor. because i understand they re measuring 35,000 symptomatic infections. there are probably far more than that. far more that aren t being measured and maybe they should be counted right now. but the story still is that that s, you know, that s not the majority of cases here. it is a small percentage of cases that are causing symptomatic infections and, yes, some of the vulnerable, some of the immuno suppressed may fall even if they are vaccinated but the story is how important the vaccines still are. john, i don t want to change that story. that is the ultimate story that
